As we start our new school year, the library team would like to ensure that students continue to receive books while maintaining safety precautions. In this letter, we will share our plan to keep books safe to bring home and exchange. For students who are in the school building, books will be brought into the classroom by a cart. Grades 3 and 4 will be allowed to take 3 books home at a time. Grade 5 will be allowed to take home 4 books at a time and Grade 6 will be allowed to take home as many books as they would like due to their upcoming research projects. For students who are remote learners, we will have a Book Request Form in their Library Google Classroom. On Fridays, every two weeks, parents will be allowed to come to Vernon and pick up the requested books. Books will be in a plastic bag with the student’s name and homeroom written on it. Students whose last name starts with A - M will be able to pick up from 9:30 - 11:00. Students whose last name starts with N - Z will be able to pick up from 12:00 - 1:30. I will review this with the students during our special area times. Remote Learners will be able to take out the same amount of books as the students in the building. When the books are returned, Mrs. McGee and I will be putting them into a bin. That bin will not be touched for 3 days. After that time period, we will put the books back into circulation. If a student wants a book that is in book quarantine, we will place a hold on that book so when it goes back into circulation, that student will be able to get the book they waited for.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Ms. Virginia Kemp Mrs. Elizabeth McGee
